Judith Schalansky’s Atlas of Remote Islands merges the experiences of reading Calvino’s Invisible Cities and poring over an atlas as an eight-year-old. I really can’t imagine a more charming book.

She also wrote a lovely ode to blackletter typography called Fraktur Mon Amour, which I’m clearly going to have to acquire.
